Island Keyer II - Ham Radio KITS - TOP PAGE

Version 40 "beta" Island Keyer II changes / feature additions to version 14, 32 & 37:

  • for the low power version: Keyer power supply voltage is now 3.6 volts maximum, V40 will not work at 5 volts
  • a higher power version of V40 is available which will work at 5 volts
  • serial numbers below 100 can now optionally be played with leading zeros
  • a numbers only keying mode is now available with self completing characters for high speed contests
  • a "Both Tune" keying mode is now available which enters tune mode if both paddles are pressed
  • an iambic to single paddle keying mode is now available which only responds to the first paddle touched if both are pressed

Version 37 "beta" Island Keyer II changes / feature additions to version 14 & 32:

  • speed range is now 6 to 80 wpm
  • ?Sxx embedded command now increases the current speed by xx wpm
  • new ?Ix embedded command increases the character space length by x dit spaces

Version 32 "beta" Island Keyer II feature additions to version 13:

  • 5 didah entry to CE can now be turned off
  • "paddle" outputs on pins 17 & 18, allows the Island Keyer II to "key" another keyer, useful for transferring memories to a rig or another keyer
  • "backspace" added to memory recording, easy delete of last character recorded
  • alternate "spread" multipress combinations, gets rid of adjacent switch accidental presses
  • auto alternate play of a different memory after x normal memory plays
  • autoresume embedded pause, ?Q
  • 5 didah or 9 dah entry into Command Entry mode
  • CL command: compensates for transmitter shortening of code elements
  • DF command: current keyer speed can be divided by 10 or 100 during memory sends
  • Beacon Key down: Island Keyer II can be easily used as a "fox" FM beacon

  • Production version 14 Island Keyer II feature list:

  • pot or paddle speed control - 5 to 70 WPM speed range
  • speed readout via simulpress
  • 56 memories, non-volatile (contents retained when power off)
  • memory embedded functions including speed change, pause, loop, chain
  • weight adjustable from 20 to 80 percent via paddle or pot
  • tone frequency adjustable from 250 to 990 Hz via paddle or pot
  • 6 memory switches
  • 1.5 x 2 inch circuit board

  • serial number support with simulpress decrement available
  • separate command sidetone frequency
  • separate command speed
  • programmable simulpresses (memory switch combination commands)
  • straight key input
  • commands can be entered from paddle or straight key
  • memories can be recorded from either paddle or straight key
  • bug mode (dit paddle normal, dah paddle functions as straight key)
  • tune function via simulpress
  • ultimatic keying mode selectable
  • iambic modes: mode a / Accu Keyer mode b / CMOS Super mode b selectable
  • dit / dah memories can be turned off
  • selectable live "on the air" recording of memories
  • paddles can be reversed via command
  • autospace selectable
  • memory switch press queuing
  • stuck paddle protection (puts keyer to sleep after 128 consecutive dits/dahs)
  • selectable timed straight key memory recording
  • low power, less than 2 ua when keyer is asleep, 3 ma or less active @ 5V
  • Flash PIC processor, code is easily updatable
