PICPADL kit diagnostic measurements 1/29/2022 Chuck, WB9KZY Measurements made with a Metex 3 1/2 digit DVM They don't need to be exact, ballpark vicinity is fine power ON voltage measurements on PIC pins: black probe to grounded upper mounting hole (normally unused), red probe to each pin in turn power supply is 5 Volts, readings on pin 1 will be about the same as the power supply voltage PIC pin # voltage reading 1 4.96 Volts 2 14.4 mV (note that O1, the left paddle will be activated) 3 14.6 mV 4 14.5 mV (note that O2, the right paddle will be activated) 5 .1 mV 6 " 7 " 8 0 power off resistance measurements to ground: PIC removed from socket, black probe to grounded upper mounting hole (normally unused), red probe to each pin in turn PIC pin resistance reading 1 open (very large resistance) 2 open 3 open 4 open 5 open 6 open 7 open 8 7.1 ohms (should be zero but 7.1 ohms is close enough, need a new meter ?) power off resistance measurements of pots R1 and R2 to PIC pin 3 PIC removed from socket, black probe connected to PIC pin 3, red probe to pins 2 & 4 in turn PIC pin resistance reading 2 R2 reading should vary from about 0 ohms (fully counter-clockwise) to 20 k ohms (fully clockwise) 4 R1 reading should vary from about 0 ohms (fully counter-clockwise) to 20 k ohms (fully clockwise)
