June 28, 2024 - due to parts cost increases the DSWK price is now $9

NEW (10/24/2003) - DSWK chip

The DSWK is an upgrade for the Small Wonder Labs DSW and DSW-II stock PIC chip.

Please don't contact Dave Benson of Small Wonder Labs with questions or complaints about the DSWK and it's application to the DSW and DSW-II series of transceivers - the more time Dave spends answering emails, the less time he has to design and produce his fine kits. Dave and SWL have no affiliation with or endorsement of the DSWK chip. If you have a question about the DSWK, please email it to the DSWK designer (me, Chuck Olson):

In addition to the stock DSW features, the DSWK offers:

  • XIT (transmitter incremental tuning) mode
  • optional 10 Hz resolution tuning steps in addition to stock 50 and 200 Hz steps
  • 10 Hz readout resolution when using 50 or 10 Hz tuning steps
  • DDS calibrate mode - set your DSW xmit frequency to agree with your "big rig"
  • VFO last frequency non-volatile memory (settings saved without power)
  • two non-volatile frequency memories (with hardware mod)

  • and adds many of the Norcal keyer features to the DSW and DSW-II:

  • 4 wpm to over 40 wpm speed range
  • pot or paddle speed control
  • two 37 character plus one 33 character, non-volatile memories
  • iambic a or b modes
  • Bug mode
  • Autospace mode
  • Beacon mode
  • Reverse paddle mode
  • 5 dit-dah tune mode

  • and some features not included in the Norcal keyer:

  • optional command speed setting
  • programmable press and hold duration length
